Making my own folding oarlocks

The original Devlin plans called for "Folding pattern oarlocks". I knew that I wanted them, but the only ones I could find to purchase where beautiful bronze cast, but cost around $200 each. And I needed four of them. So I decided to build my own.

I made some fiberglass plate by laminating many layers of fiberglass together between heavy pieces of window glass. I then layered this fiberglass plate with plywood as a core to make a strong hinging oarlock. After gluing them together I also glued in a bronze ferrel for the oarlock to spin on. You can see them completed in later pictures.
